Yes, I know the movie is named after the Order, and the Order was barely in the movie.

I hope someone adapts these books to screen properly someday.

The movie is named after the secret society of the same name, not the mythical bird of the same name.

I've been saying for years: "You can't compress a 500+ page book into a two hour movie", and this is more proof for the pile.

It's not the cliff's notes version, just the Readers' Digest Condensed Edition. In many ways, that's far worse.

We went to see it in IMAX. The only reason I'm not saying it was a complete waste to do so is that we were late getting to a packed theatre and ended up sitting near the front. It's there that a 20m high screen has its advantages. But the 3D scenes were blurry and ghosted.

I spent at least half the movie wondering if Harry was going to go third-rate emo on someone...

I don't think that even watching this movie in an ampitheatre full of people would make it enjoyable. Maybe if I got some really good E, smoked up several bowls of potent chronic, took 7 or 8 hits of opium, shot up with some heroin, ate a salad of bad shrooms, dropped PCP laced acid, and took two or three puffs on an asthma inhaler I would enjoy it. Still, I doubt I could ever enjoy a movie like that. Given the choice between this and telepoll, I would flip a coin, pop some Quaaludes and pray that when I finally snapped back to reality my hellish nightmare would be over.

Note I referred to x86-based linux. Not pre-packaged distros compiled for powerpc, but the x86 architecture.

Linux is not better! It's more stable, more customizable, more useful, but not better. Okay, so yeah, it's better. It's much better.

Anyhow, they've had linux working on Macs for years, WS. One of the better suited distros for that is Yellow Dog, which is entirely designed for running on Mac hardware. As for finding the terminal, it's really easy! All you have to do is go to your docker; click the finder icon; go to the top bar (which now says "Finder") and click "go"; go to applications and scroll down to realize you went to the wrong folder; repeat process until you clicked "applications" and click "utilities" this time; double-click on "terminal" in the utilities. It's just that easy!

Personally, if I were to own a Mac, I would either put Yellow Dog, Debian, or Gentoo on it and have MacOSX as a dual-boot partition. I would change MacOSX to get rid of all its "easy functionality crap" and make a key binding to open the terminal. Darwin would also have ports of xorg installed so that I could run my x11 apps. Then, would come the KDE and Gnome libraries. Eventually, you would get a proper functioning xnix box with OSX as the desktop environment. Yellow Dog/Debian/Gentoo would just be the shortcut.

Am I the only person who can't get anything done on a mac? All the fancy widgets they've got on the desktop serve to prevent people from actually doing work. Accidentally move your mouse to a corner of the screen and *woosh* another selector opens, covering over what you were trying to do. And opening a terminal window is harder than finding a fitness freak in a McDonalds...

At least now with the new breed of mac, I can put x86 linux in an expensive box.
