Hi Everybody,
I hope you’re enjoying 2007. I have a few upcoming events to entice you with, one this week, and a couple in April.
Wednesday night I’m playing the first set at Coffee Haus, which starts at 9pm. This time I’m doing a quasi-Valentine’s Day-themed set of songs that most people probably wouldn’t expect;) As always, it’s in the Michener Lounge in the SUB.
April 1st I am accompanying singer Susan Dworkin at a fundraiser recital for her Short Order Opera group. It will feature both classical and jazz – one might say we are kicking it oldschool. Because it’s a limited seating fundraiser tickets are $40, and should be ordered soon before they run out. More details and ticket reservation info are at the end of the email.
April 5th – 7th is the Acadia Music Theatre production of “Working”, a fun and moving portrait of working class people. I’ll be playing 2nd keyboard in the show, and have been helping so far as Tech Advisor, a Rehearsal Accompanist, and Assistant to the Musical Director. Thus I’ve seen a lot of the rehearsing, and can say it will be a fantastic show. It will be playing at the Al Whittle Theatre and tickets will go fast, so I’ll let you know when they go on sale.
Finally, this last plug has nothing to do with me, but I thought I should tell people to check out Jess Clemons’ new cd. This is her first full-length album; her previous 6 song cd remains a staple in my car’s cd changer to this day (I plan to pick up the new cd this week). Also, she has a special Acadia CD Release Show for students this Thurs at 9pm in the Michener Lounge. Jess and I go way back to Prof. Bob McCarthy’s Jazz Conspiracy, and it’s awesome to see her doing well out there in the “real world”. Her website is http://www.jessclemons.com/ , and you can hear some of her new songs at http://www.myspace.com/58808702
That’s all the plugs for now.
Keep warm,
G
