Hi everybody,
Well, it has been busy since my last email-newsletter-thing. “Kurt Weill: From Berlin to Broadway” finished its run, and had an excellent closing night. The Chester Playhouse’s Champagne Gala was also fun. I accompanied several numbers, and even did a self-accompanied solo – “Domingo” (Dad’s song parody of Bernstein’s “Maria”).
Speaking of “Domingo”, I have finally put the music video I made of it in the spring online, you can check it out at http://gmedia.gnote.ca/
The rest of the summer consisted of me helping a fair bit in the bookstore, as well as “chillin” (as the kids say). I got swept up in another last-minute production at the end of summer, though, as my friend Johnson Romkey and I got called on to do music for an environmental play called “Sea Salt and Brine!” at the Lunenburg Academy. We had a few numbers to play in the show, and also entertained the crowd for about half an hour beforehand (Johnson on drum kit, myself on keyboard and a little singing).
Now, Johnson and I have taken our act on the road… inasmuch as we’re back at Acadia, and ready to play a Coffee Haus! We’re the last set this Wednesday, the show starts at 9pm in the Michener Lounge, and I’m told we’ll be on around 10:50pm. So, if you’re in the area, check it out:D
Finally, this fall I have been the rehearsal accompanist and assistant chorus director for Maritime Concert Opera, which is putting on Puccini’s “Suor Angelica” in two weeks. The chorus is sounding great, and I look forward to sitting in the audience and seeing the show. It’ll be playing Liverpool on Wed Nov 15th, Halifax on Fri Nov 17th, and Lunenburg on Sat Nov 18th. More info on the show can be found here – http://maritimeconcertopera.com/wordpress/?page_id=7
Signing off for now,
